October 02 Sports Day Contest - Ming is a WinnerIt was Sports Day at Ming and Mei's school today. Ming won a Silver Medal for team baton race. Here are some pictures of the event and his medal.
September 29 Singapore Formula 1 Grand PrixI was at the inaugural Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix this weekend. I was sitting at the Marina grandstands. It was great fun being part of auto racing history, this being the first night race for Formula 1. Among other things the ING car crashed in front of our grandstands. The driver was OK. Later, after the race, I was on track and took some pictures of where the car hit the wall... see the tread marks.
September 22 Macau NightsMade an excursion trip to Macau on Sept 13 after a business trip to Hong Kong. My first time there. Hmmm.. Although it was the Mid-Autumn holiday weekend, it was as crowded as I expected it to be, based on all press that I've been reading about high-rollers from China. It isn't quite like Las Vegas yet either. The table games are definitely of the Chinese favorites. I didn't see a lot of the slot machines either.
I took some video on my camera phone. So, the quality isn't the best.
August 30 Skin-Eating Fish TherapySee all this little - big - fishes biting at my toes, feet and leg? This is supposed to be the latest in feet reflexology (massage), little fishes feeding on dead skin. It was a very weird sensation with hundreds of little fishes nibbling at your feet. This isn't for people with ticklish feet. But you'll get used to it after a little while. August 29 Mei En's 7th BirthdayMei En is celebrating her 7th birthday in San Francisco this year. But, we had a small celebration with her in Singapore. Mei En is growing up fast... how time flies.

June 01 Dad's 80th BirthdayApril 10 Holiday - Extreme EditionG'day Mates, This was a much needed holiday... (I left my job at Microsoft last week.) Time to clear my head and take this opportunity to do things which I may not have otherwise done. And I did some crazy stuff. It was my personal holiday - extreme edition. I went to Cairns in Queensland, Australia specifically for whitewater rafting, sky diving, bungee jumping. And, when in Cairns, you go scuba dive in the Great Barrier Reef. Here are some videos of my trip. The first thing I did was go on a tandem sky dive. This experience was very cool. There wasn't that sinking feeling as I imagined. I just felt the air pushing against me as I was falling... the same sensation as if you stuck your head out of the car window of a fast moving car. The second was bungee jump. I felt the bungee was much more scary. It's just very unnatural to letting go and stepping off the platform 50m high. I also went on a whitewater rafting trip down the Tully River and scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef (see the photo album for more pix). March 22 Camping at East Coast ParkSeveral families from our church group went camping overnight at East Coast Park during this Easter holiday. We stayed from night...to sunrise. March 11 Disney On IceThe kids have a week off from school this week for their school break. We took the kids and friend to the Disney on Ice show. My pocket camera ran out of batteries so I ended up taking a couple of shots with my mobile phone camera. Pictures aren't very good. March 08 Sabina's 40th BirthdayIt's Sabina's birthday today. We had a quite celebration, just the two of us, for a Sushi dinner. The kids were at their friend's house for the evening. Cake was served up at home with the kids. Happy Birthday!!! |
